Jack passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 1, from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at Merle Hay Funeral Home at Chapel Hill Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 2, at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church in Des Moines.
Jack was born in Des Moines on September 24, 1925, to Edward and Winifred (Harrison) Kendzora. In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean War. Jack was united in marriage to Vera (Walthall) on August 23, 1948. Jack was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Church and a past Commander of the VFW Post 9127.
Jack is survived by his wife,Vera, of 63 years; daughters, Vicki (Ron) Hopp and Jackie Manuel of Des Moines; sons, Richard of Iowa City and Tracy (Judy) of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Allen of Gravois Mills, Missouri.
Memorial contributions can be made in Jack's name to the Beaverdale VFW.
